Practice Problems
Try them, get help one step at a time, then print how it went.
Practice: try it, then get help one step at a time
Stories and graphs in words. Hint gives a nudge, Show next step shows one worked step at a time, Reveal answer checks, and Hide help / start over clears the card.

Finished the practice? Print a page that shows each question, what you typed or chose, the correct answer, and how it went. Good for showing a teacher or keeping in a folder.
Exit ticket
On paper or an index card. Use the math word and the plain-English word.
- On a graph of distance from home against time, what does a flat stretch mean? What does a steep climb mean?
- Sketch in words: a plane sits at the gate for 20 minutes, taxis slowly for 10, then takes off and climbs fast. Describe the height graph stretch by stretch.
- A runner runs, stands still, then runs back. Why is the speed graph not the same shape as the distance graph?
- Two graphs of water filling a tub: one climbs to full in 5 minutes, the other in 10. Which is steeper, and what does that mean?

- Flat: distance not changing, you are stopped. Steep climb: distance growing fast, you are moving away quickly.
- Level at zero for 20 minutes, level at zero (still on the ground) for 10 more, then a steep climb.
- On the distance graph, standing still is flat at some distance. On the speed graph, standing still is flat at zero, and running is flat up high. The axes measure different things.
- The 5-minute one is steeper. Steeper means faster: that tap fills the tub faster.
