Practice Problems
Try them, get help one step at a time, then print how it went.
Practice: try it, then get help one step at a time
Build a model, test for linear, compare two. Hint gives a nudge, Show next step shows one worked step at a time, Reveal answer checks, and Hide help / start over clears the card. Say start and rate every time.

On paper or an index card. Use the math word and the plain-English word.
- A car wash charges $5 plus $2 per car for a school fundraiser. What are b and m, and what is the equation?
- A table has x = 0, 1, 2, 3 and y = 9, 13, 17, 21. Is it linear? How do you know? If so, what is m?
- Plan A: 6x + 30. Plan B: starts at 10 and grows 10 per month. Which starts higher, which grows faster, when equal?
- Why is doubling every hour not linear?

- b = 5 (the flat fee), m = 2 per car (the rate). money = 2c + 5.
- Yes: the difference is +4 every step. m = 4.
- A starts higher (30). B grows faster (10). Equal when 6x + 30 = 10x + 10, so x = 5 months.
- The change grows each step (2 more, then 4, then 8), so the rate is not constant.
