Two ways to fail
Two ways a graph can fail the test. Bowling fails one way, and the area of a square fails the other.
Bowling is straight but misses the origin: zero games still costs $3 for shoes. The square's area goes through the origin but bends: a side of 1 gives an area of 1, a side of 2 gives 4, a side of 3 gives 9. The numbers do not always multiply by the same number. Neither graph is proportional. A proportional graph needs both: straight, and through (0, 0).
